Itinerary

Day 01: Arrival – Auckland.

Once everyone has arrived, we’ll kick things off with a warm welcome meeting over refreshments, where we’ll get to know each other and share introductions. This session will cover everything you need to know about your New Zealand-Aotearoa tour and your time in Auckland. We’ll also review practical details, including motorcycle and car rental checkouts, to ensure everyone is set for the journey ahead. The evening will be all about building camaraderie, capped off with a dinner that offers a true taste of authentic Kiwi hospitality.

Day 02: Auckland  (Fun and Explorer Day)

We’ll spend an exciting day exploring Auckland, a city that thrives on its easy access to stunning beaches, scenic hiking trails, and captivating islands. With its sunny climate and rich Polynesian culture, Auckland is a hub for those who love exceptional food, wine, and shopping. There’s something for everyone here, from luxury designers to bustling street markets. Soak up the energy of the Viaduct Harbour, Wynyard Quarter, and Parnell as you discover a variety of cafés, restaurants, and vibrant nightlife.

The iconic Sky Tower, standing 328 meters tall, is a highlight of the city—the highest structure in New Zealand. It’s a must-see, offering panoramic views that stretch up to 80 kilometres. Ride a glass elevator up to one of the three spectacular viewing decks. If you’re up for a thrill, try the Sky Walk around the 192-meter high pergola or go all in with the Sky Jump. Treat yourself to a refined meal at Peter Gordon’s The Sugar Club, or enjoy a relaxing break at Sky Café. For a more unique dining experience, head to “Orbit,” the 360-degree revolving restaurant. The Sky Tower is truly one of New Zealand’s most thrilling attractions.

In the afternoon, we set out to pick up our bikes—late-model editions prepared and equipped with all necessary insurance.

Day 03: Auckland – Whangamatā  (301 km/188 miles)

Once everyone is ready on their bikes, we begin our epic 2,850-mile / 4,600-kilometer adventure across New Zealand – Aotearoa. As Auckland fades into the distance, we ride eastward, diving into a journey filled with rich traditions, winding roads, stunning landscapes, and breathtaking coastlines. Our first stop is Coromandel TOP 10 Holiday Park, where we’ll take a break and enjoy lunch.

Adjacent to the park is Coromandel Forest Park, a haven for outdoor enthusiasts with options for short walks, mountain biking trails, and even old gold mining sites to explore. The town of Coromandel also boasts one of the region’s best shopping spots. After lunch, we continue riding along the picturesque east coast, making several stops along the way to take in the incredible scenery before reaching our evening destination—Whangamatā.

Renowned for having one of the best beaches in New Zealand, Whangamatā is a surfer’s paradise with some of the best breaks while also being a safe swimming spot. Its unique sun, sand, and bush mix and a relaxed village vibe draw Kiwi holidaymakers year-round. The ocean beaches and saltwater estuaries create a popular playground for water lovers. But Whangamatā isn’t just about the beach—it’s also famous for hosting the Beach Hop, a vibrant five-day celebration of 1950s and 1960s culture.

Day 04: Whangamatā – Rotorua (173 km/107 miles)

Our captivating ride along Route 25 through the mountains takes us to Rotorua, famous for its bubbling mud pools, erupting geysers, soothing hot springs, and deep-rooted Māori culture. Rotorua has something for everyone—from crystal-clear streams and enchanting forests to thrilling biking trails and rejuvenating thermal mud pools, perfect for adventurers and those looking to unwind.

Rotorua is a geothermal wonderland located in the Pacific Rim of Fire, where you’ll encounter steaming mud pools, billowing geysers, and natural hot springs perfect for a relaxing dip. After exploring a geothermal park’s otherworldly landscapes and volcanic marvels, you can enjoy a peaceful soak in a natural hot stream or indulge in a luxurious wellness experience at one of the city’s renowned spas. We’ll spend the afternoon and evening soaking up the magic of this incredible destination, leaving plenty of time to unwind and immerse ourselves in its wonders.

Day 05: Rotorua – Gisborne  (274 km/170 miles)

We kick off the day with a stunning ride along the shores of Lake Rotorua before hitting Route 2 for an exhilarating journey through scenic, winding mountain roads as we make our way to Gisborne. Nestled on the shores of Poverty Bay, Gisborne, the heart of the northeast region, greets us with its warm, laid-back charm. In the evening, we’ll enjoy a delicious dinner at Bar Marina Park, the perfect spot to soak in the local atmosphere and unwind after a thrilling day on the road.

Day 06: Gisborne – Taupō (329 km/204 miles)

Our day unfolds with an unforgettable ride from Gisborne, taking us southeast through spectacular mountain landscapes and along picturesque coastlines. Riding some of the North Island’s finest roads, we’ll make several stops to soak in the breathtaking scenery before reaching our destination for the day: Lake Taupō.

Lake Taupō, a magnificent natural wonder, is so vast it’s often compared to the size of Singapore, resembling more of an inland sea. Formed by a massive volcanic eruption nearly two thousand years ago, the lake’s geothermal origins are still visible today through its geysers, steaming craters, and bubbling mud pools, best explored at the Craters of the Moon. Taupō’s beaches also offer the unique experience of swimming or paddling in warm geothermal currents, making it a truly one-of-a-kind destination.

Day 07: Taupō – New Plymouth  (312 km/194 miles)

Leaving the stunning Lake Taupō behind, we embark on one of New Zealand’s most iconic motorcycle routes: the Forgotten World Highway, or Route 43. This remote and enigmatic highway exudes a sense of mystery, built initially on colonial bridle paths from the late 19th century. Locals playfully refer to it as “a bit upsy downsy,” a classic Kiwi understatement for a road that twists and turns with the rugged landscape, delivering a thrilling, roller-coaster-like ride. This is a journey, so ensure your cameras are ready to capture the jaw-dropping scenery along the way!

Day 08: New Plymouth – Wellington (388 km/241 miles)

Prepare for another thrilling day of riding along the stunning west coast of the North Island. As we cruise past the breathtaking coastline, we’ll be treated to incredible views to our final stop for the day: Wellington. Nestled at the southern tip of the North Island, Wellington is a picturesque city framed by a charming harbour and lush green hills. With a population of over 380,000, it’s the largest capital city in Oceania, steeped in history since its founding in the 1840s.

Day 09: Wellington – Nelson (114 km/74 miles)

Get ready for what may be the most breathtaking ferry ride of your life. We’ll set off early to catch the first ferry to the South Island, a region famous for its incredible motorcycle routes and awe-inspiring natural beauty.

Clear your mind and fully embrace the experience as we journey across the South Island, winding through fjords, along the coast, and over mountain passes. Today is all about immersing yourself in the spectacular landscapes and the pure magic of nature at every turn.

Day 10: Nelson – Puponga – Nelson (Fun and explorer day – 302 km/188 miles)

Today, you can relax and explore the attractions in Nelson, or you can join us for an incredible ride up to Abel Tasman National Park along Route 60. You can ride as far as you like, with Collingwood being a highly recommended destination.

Although Abel Tasman National Park is New Zealand’s smallest national park, it perfectly balances relaxation and adventure. This coastal paradise is easily accessible and offers a range of activities to explore by land, water, or air. Choose from cruises, water taxis, kayaking, scenic helicopter tours, and sailing catamarans. While summer is a popular time to visit, many locals believe the shoulder seasons offer the best experience, featuring crisp mornings, calm waters, and tranquil beaches. For those seeking comfort, luxurious lodges are available, but spending a night under the stars is often considered the best way to connect with the spirit of Abel Tasman.

We’ll return to Nelson for another fun-filled evening!

Day 11: Nelson – Punakaiki (283 km/176 miles)

Prepare for another awe-inspiring adventure as we head south on Route 6 toward Cape Foulwind! After soaking in the stunning views, we’ll keep following the spectacular coastline, eventually arriving at the breathtaking Punakaiki. It’s going to be an unforgettable ride!

Day 12: Panakaiki – Fox Glacier (377 km/234 miles)

We’re kicking off the day with an exhilarating ride up to Arthur’s Pass National Park, where we’ll take a moment to soak in the breathtaking views and scenery at Arthur’s Pass Village. From there, we’ll set our sights on the charming Fox Glacier, nestled in the lush foothills of the Southern Alps. Fox Glacier is a fantastic spot for glacier walks, hikes, and even aerial tours, making it a must-visit!

Today’s journey along Route 6 on the west coast of the South Island is considered one of the most beautiful routes in the region, and we’ll make several stops along the way to fully appreciate the stunning surroundings. Once we arrive at Fox Glacier, we’ll embark on an exciting glacier tour. Just a stone’s throw away is the picturesque Lake Matheson, famous for being one of New Zealand’s most photographed lakes. On clear days, you can see Mount Cook’s stunning reflection in its serene waters.

Let’s make the most of this incredible adventure, exploring the wonders of Route 6, Arthur’s Pass National Park, Arthur’s Pass Village, and Fox Glacier!

Day 13: Fox Glacier – Queenstown (353 km/219 miles)

Once again, we’re hitting Route 6, following the stunning coastline before entering the mountains. We’ll stop in Haast for a quick break before venturing through Mount Aspiring National Park, where we’ll wind past picturesque mountain lakes and awe-inspiring natural landscapes. Get ready for some delightful, twisting roads that will lead us to the charming destination of Queenstown. It’s going to be a fantastic ride!
