Our operators’ longest tour was over 21 days and over 6,000 km.

The ride traverses the achingly majestic South African landscape with its wide open spaces and ever-changing scenery, offering up something new and diverse every day and at every turn. This tour touches on many of the country’s provinces and visits the neighbouring countries of  Eswatini (Swaziland) and Lesotho. The two landlocked kingdoms coined ‘Switzerland in Africa’ and ‘The Roof of Africa’ have amazing mountain scenery and riding whilst being totally different.

Wildlife viewing is always on the itinerary. Big five game drives into the arid Little Karoo Game Lodge, the iSimangaliso Wetlands National Park and Greater Kruger National Park are on the agenda. 

The riding will offer up amazing scenery and great roads daily. We will touch on the Great Karoo & ride through the Little Karoo along with the ‘Garden Route’ on the tour. In addition, Hogsback & the ‘Valley of Desolation’ will be visited (Camdeboo National Park). Other equally stunning offerings will be the ‘Wild Coast’ & Oribi Gorge on the warm sub-tropical East Coast of the country.

Our Tour operator’s most popular tour.

The majestic beauty of ‘The Fairest Cape’ is showcased throughout this tour. Our first day will lead us out of Cape Town as we head down to ‘Shark Alley’ where you will be treated to a Shark cage diving excursion (10-day tour only). The ride then heads to Cape Agulhas, the Southernmost Point in Africa. we will visit the nature reserve and view the spot where the Indian and Atlantic Oceans meet. The Overberg region makes for some dramatic wide open ‘big sky’ country with vast windswept fields leading towards the imposing ‘Langeberg Mountains’ with Swellendam at its base. Within less than an hour from Swellendam, the scenery changes once again as we head into the Little Karoo along Route 62: dry, arid, and home to thousands of rustic plant species and the home to thousands of Ostrich. 

A night will be spent in a luxury-tented game lodge, a lovely setting under the stars. The afternoon will end with a sundowner big game drive. The next morning will see a later start after a relaxing breakfast and time spent meeting and feeding the rescue Elephants. We head over the imposing and iconic Swartberg Pass into the Great Karoo. We will overnight in the Karoo in an old-period home offering authentic Karoo hospitality. The next day will see us venturing through the breathtaking Meiringspoort Pass before heading out along the Lankloof Valley renowned for being the longest fruit-growing region of the country.   

Storms River, on the edge of the Tsitsikamma Forest, the forest and Storm River Mouth will take centre stage. You can do a ‘canopy zipline tour’ through the ancient Tsitsikamma Forest, a laidback Segway cruise through the vast forest or simply ‘chill’.  After the rest day we’ll enjoy a ride along the ‘Garden Route’ and enjoy yet more amazing mountain passes as we head back into the Little Karoo and a night on Route 62. A ride through the stunning Seweweeks Pass (seven weeks) will kick off your final full riding day with a coffee stop in historical Maitjiesfontein. Then… more mountain passes will take us through to the ‘Swartland’ which will offer up lovely rolling hills and a mountain lodging where we will enjoy our last dinner together. Finally, it’s back to Cape Town.

If you have the time, you can spend a day or two exploring Cape Town and its surroundings (Table Mountain, Red Bus Tour, White Sand Beaches, Wine Farm Tours, Hiking, etc.).

Day 01: Arrival – Fly into Cape Town

You will be met at the airport and transferred to the accommodation.

Day 02: Cape Town (Ride Day 1 – 130 km)

Cape Point, Chapman’s Peak, Simonstown, and Hout Bay are low mileage, busy days touring the peninsula.

Overnight: Cape Town

Day 03: Cape Town – Whale Coast (Ride Day 2 – 299 km)

Today, we ride the superb coastal road, visiting the Penguin Colony and land-based whale watching area, which is seasonal. Finally arriving in ‘Shark’ town. This we have as riding Highway R44 to Kleinmond for lunch, then on to Hermanus, Stanford and Gansbaai (Kleinbaai).

Day 04: Kleinbaai to Cape Agulhas (Ride Day 3 – 125 km)

Morning spent viewing ‘Sharks’ up close in a Shark Cage, followed by a short afternoon ride through Napier (lunch), Bredasdorp and Cape Agulhasto, the southernmost point in Africa

Day 05: Cape Agulhas to Oudtshoorn (Ride Day 4 – 355 km)

We leave Cape Agulhas, travelling to Malgas Pont, Barrydale, then on Route 62 (Little Karoo) finishing in a Game Reserve.

Day 06: Oudtshoorn to Klaarstroom (Ride Day 5 – 125 km)

After our Wildlife Experience in the morning, we head to Swartberg Pass and onto Prince Albert for lunch, finishing at Klaarstroom for an authentic Karoo overnight.

Day 07: Klaarstroom to Storms River (Ride Day 6 – 255 km)

We depart Klaarstroom for Meiringspoort and its famous waterfall. Then, we will go to De Rust and Uniondale for lunch. As we head for Storms River, we will stop in the Langkloof Valley for a coffee, then move on to our destination, Storms River and the Tsitsikamma Forest.

Day 08: Rest Day: Tsitsikamma Forest (Ride Day 7 – 40 km)

We have many choices and will let you decide when we are there. Maybe a Canopy Tour or out to Storms River Mouth.

Day 09: Storms River to Barrydale (Ride Day 8 – 390 km)

Today, we will take the ‘Garden Route’ and Little Karoo with Natures Valley, Knysna, and Wilderness along the ride with lunch at George. We will be taking alternative passes to Barrydale.

Overnight: Barrydale

Day 10: Barrydale to Riebeek Kasteel (Ride Day 9 – 330 km)

Today, we ride through several beautiful mountain passes and touch on the Great Karoo and the Swartland. Starting in Barrydale, we will visit Montagu and Koo Valley, ride through Du Toit’s Kloof Pass, and stop at Bain’s Kloof Pass for lunch. Returning to the road we ride to Riebeek Kasteel

Overnight: Riebeek Kasteel

Day 11: Riebeek Kasteel to Cape Town (Ride Day 10)

This morning, we ride into Cape Town via Melkbosstrand and Blouberg into the Mother City. Our tour has ended, and we return the motorcycles. You can now decide to fly home or stay some more nights, which we can arrange.
