Day 01: Arrival into Hakone.

Day 02: Hakone – Mt Fuji

Riding Distance: 161 km

Kick off your adventure in Japan at 10:00 AM as we pick up our motorcycles and hit the scenic coastal road to Hakone, famous for its hot springs and Mt. Fuji views. Ride the legendary Hakone Turnpike, featured in Initial D, and stop at the historic Hakone Checkpoint. Here, you’ll step back in time to the Edo period and discover how this strategically placed outpost controlled travel and trade, ensuring the Shogun’s authority across Japan. Walk through reconstructed gates and barracks to see how samurai inspected travellers. Dive into culture with hands-on experience crafting Yosegi-zaiku coasters or trick boxes, then gear up for twisty mountain roads like the Ashinoko Skyline, Hakone Skyline, and Yamanakako Panorama Line, offering epic Mt. Fuji views and photo stops. End the day at Oshino Hakkai, the sacred eight ponds of Fuji, a tranquil spot perfect for unwinding after a thrilling ride.

Day 03: Shosenkyo and Jomon Exp

Riding Distance: 227 km

Kickstands up at 8:00 AM. Leaving Mt. Fuji behind in our mirrors, we ride towards Shosenkyo Gorge, renowned as one of Japan’s most stunning natural landscapes with towering cliffs, waterfalls, and crystal-clear streams. Next, we step back in time at a Jomon archaeological site, where you’ll discover how Japan’s ancient people lived through hunting, foraging, and cooking. This immersive experience offers a glimpse into prehistoric life. The day concludes with an exhilarating ride along the Tateshina Skyline, a scenic route winding through lush forests and mountain views, leading us to our destination in Tateshina.

Day 04: Venus Line, Matsumoto Castle, and Taiko Drumming

Riding Distance: 265 km

Start your day at 8:00 AM with a ride along the stunning Venus Line, one of Japan’s top scenic roads, offering sweeping vistas and endless photo opportunities. From there, we descend to the historic Matsumoto Castle, known as the “Crow Castle” for its striking black exterior. This 16th-century National Treasure is one of Japan’s most well-preserved original castles, surrounded by a scenic moat and steeped in samurai history. Next, we immerse ourselves in Japanese culture with a hands-on taiko drumming experience at Dengakuza. The day concludes with a ride through the majestic Northern Alps, where winding roads and dramatic mountain views lead us to the charming town of Takayama, famous for its Edo-period streets and vibrant culture.

Day 05: Takayama – Kusatsu Onsen

Riding Distance: 200 km

Our day begins at 8:30 AM with a visit to Hida-no-Sato in Takayama, an open-air museum showcasing traditional gassho-zukuri farmhouses over 200 years old. Explore the village and its Edo-period charm, surrounded by serene mountain landscapes. Next, we ride the Tsumagoi Panorama Line, a route famed for its premium cabbage fields, where Japan’s finest cabbages—some worth 2,000 yen each—are grown. Along the way, we’ll stop at Aisai no Oka, the “Hill of True Love,” to take in the views, ring the Bell of Love, and enjoy the area’s unique romantic charm. We end the day at Kusatsu Onsen, one of Japan’s most famous hot springs. Renowned for its healing sulphuric waters, Kusatsu offers the perfect way to relax and rejuvenate after a day of exploration and adventure.

Day 06: Japan’s highest road, Kiyotsu Gorge, and Sake tasting

Riding Distance: 212 km

Kickstands up at 8:00 AM. We start the day with a ride on the famous 292 Asama Shirane Shiga Sawayaka Road, Japan’s highest road. This route offers alpine views and twists and turns that make it a favorite for motorcycle enthusiasts. Our next stop is Kiyotsu Gorge, a natural masterpiece with towering cliffs and serene waters that showcase the beauty of Japan’s landscapes. After soaking in the scenery, we ride to Uonuma, where we park the bikes for the night and dive into the local culture. At Ponshukan, we’ll sample an array of Niigata’s finest sakes, a region renowned for its exceptional sakemaking tradition. It’s the perfect way to unwind and immerse yourself in the rich flavors of this iconic region after a thrilling day on the road.

Day 07: Lake Tagokura – Kyudo – Goshikinuma

Riding Distance: 185km

Kickstands up at 8:00 AM as we embark on a leisurely ride to Lake Tagokura. From there, we’ll snake along the Tadami River, known for its lush landscapes and scenic railway views, leading us to the historic city of Aizuwakamatsu. Here, we’ll step into the world of Kyudo, the traditional Japanese art of archery, at the famed Nisshinkan, once the elite samurai school of the Aizu domain. Learn about the discipline and philosophy behind this ancient practice, experiencing firsthand the precision and mindfulness of the samurai era. We end the day at the Goshikinuma (Five Coloured Ponds), where you’ll have time the following rest day to explore the walking trails around these stunning, vividly-hued ponds—a perfect balance of adventure and relaxation.

Today is a well-earned rest day, perfect for recharging at your own pace. Sleep in and take it easy, or explore the scenic hiking trail around Goshikinuma, where vibrant ponds offer a serene and picturesque experience. If you’re eager to ride, head out to Mt Azuma-Kofuji and cruise along the stunning Azuma Bandai Line, Fukushima’s most prized scenic-twisty road. For those seeking a shot of adrenaline, make your way to the legendary Ebisu Circuit and experience the thrill of the Drift Taxi, where professional drivers take you on an unforgettable ride through the world of drifting. Day 09: Motegi and the Honda Collection Hall

Riding Distance: 182km

Kickstands up at you know what time! We start the day riding the Hatori Line, a favourite among locals for its twists and turns, offering a blend of excitement and scenic beauty. From there, we make our way to Motegi Circuit, home to the world-famous Honda Collection Hall. The Honda Collection Hall is a must-see for motorcycle and automotive enthusiasts. Located at the iconic Twin Ring Motegi race track, this museum celebrates Honda’s storied history with an incredible collection of over 300 exhibits. You’ll find legendary motorcycles like the Honda Super Cub, cutting-edge Formula 1 race cars, and MotoGP machines ridden by world champions. With interactive displays and insights into Honda’s pioneering spirit, this visit is an inspiring journey through engineering brilliance and the relentless pursuit of dreams. Riding Distance: 243km

Kickstands up at 8:00 AM, riding the scenic backroads of Nikko, with our first stop at the iconic Toshogu Shrine, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. This shrine is the final resting place of Tokugawa Ieyasu, the founder of the Tokugawa shogunate. Renowned for its famous “Three Wise Monkeys” (See No Evil, Speak No Evil, Hear No Evil), Toshogu Shrine offers a glimpse into Japan’s Edo-period artistry. From there, we hit the legendary Irohazaka Road. This series of hairpin turns is as exhilarating to ride as it is picturesque, leading us to the tranquil Lake Chuzenji, nestled at the foot of Mount Nantai. These legendary twisty roads, made famous by the beloved anime, offer thrilling curves and breathtaking views that will leave every rider craving more. Along the way, we’ll make a quick stop at the Ikaho Toy, Doll, and Car Museum, a nostalgic gem showcasing vintage toys, classic cars, and whimsical doll displays. It’s a quirky and delightful detour into a world of collectibles and creativity. We end the day in Karuizawa, a charming and upscale resort town known for its stunning natural beauty and vibrant atmosphere. Being the final night of our journey, we’ll come together for a memorable dinner and a farewell party to celebrate the incredible adventure we’ve shared. It’s a bittersweet conclusion to an unforgettable journey, but the stories and experiences will stay with you long after the ride is over.
